I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2010 and joined LG in 2018.

I originally joined the firm as a Practice Accountant, where my wealth of knowledge and experience, generated while previously working in industry while simultaneously managing a portfolio of individuals and businesses in my spare time, ensured I was promoted to Practice Manager in 2020.

I am passionate about bringing technology to accounting to streamline the processes. I use this knowledge to automate, map and improve business processes for the firm and clients alike. I played a crucial role in LG’s implementation of CCH software, including the setup of complex workflows to improve efficiencies.

Having previously been both a client and a business owner over the years, this has given me a particular empathy with clients and their business needs. For me the job is about helping people. I make sure the LG team consider understanding clients’ personal and business goals, processes and available finance.

The firm

I am heavily involved in keeping up-to-date with the current market trends in the IT space, employment and legislation. By maintaining a high standard across all of our processes, we are able to ensure a world-class service offering to our clients. I strongly believe in the use of IT to improve efficiency and processes. My ultimate vision here is to have a self-run practice through the use of modern technology, and lead the market.

Additionally, one of my biggest contributions to the Lawrence Grant team would be fostering trust and commitment in the workplace. Building a stronger, more enjoyable working environment by empowering the team, increasing recognition for efforts, and flexibility have all contributed to our success as a firm.

I aspire to grow the firm organically and by acquisitions, and to be listed among the UK’s Top 50 Accountancy Firms. With our highly qualified and competent team, without forgetting to mention our advanced automated systems, we are striving towards this goal quickly.

Personal

Away from the office, I enjoy playing table tennis competitively, watching films, experiencing different cuisines and most importantly spending time with my wife and two sons; Faizaan and Muhammad-Ali.

What is your favourite book and why?

“Eat that Frog”. It helps me enormously to better utilise my time and very importantly better understand our team.

What is your favourite film and why?

“12 Years a Slave.” I like movies where patience, bravery and kindness are demonstrated to a great extent. This movie topped that with a reminder of how lucky we are to be enjoying our freedom unlike others who may still be living in such conditions.

I am inspired by people who are true and believe in themselves.
